So while the current enhancements of V2 over V1 do indeed pertain primarily to the amp/cab sims, as opposed to the FX capabilities.no telling what may be developed going forward. I do agree with you! The only thing to consider is.the ongoing development of the Axe FX operating system has been maxed out for the V1 units, and only continues for the V2 units. i think im just going to spend the extra cash i would have to spend on the new one on a poweramp and cab. i was doing some research into the new one and they said it doesnt improve much at all FX wise just in the amp modelling pretty much. Im in the exact same boat with the ultra, what a beautiful little box! the front input overdrives so nicely. You wouldn't be at all lacking with a version 1 ultra, especially for generalized effects mangling. I have the Ultra, which adds more DSP and extra algorithms. You can find version 1's for about half the money second hand. I can't recommend it enough.īTW.there is a version 1 and a newer version 2. And the amp and speaker sims come in way more useful for synths than you might first imagine, giving synths and other electronic instruments a very analog feel and sound (also fully defeat-able if you choose). However, its so easy to tweak these presets for any use, especially with the excellent freeware editor (mac/PC). Its presets are on par with Eventide and Lexicon stuff, but leaning more towards guitar use, naturally. Its just so easy to route anything into anything, including side chains, and multi-tier parallel effects chains, all in one program, and then it has extensive real time controls via midi, and DEEP programming of its algorithms. But to my surprise (and I own a fair lot of Eventide gear, including a H7600 and Eclipse), it was my 'dream' effects box for synths and general use. When I purchased it, that was my primary objective.guitars. If you happen to play guitar, its a no-brainer. It has pretty much anything you could want.
